Helping our patients maintain a healthy mouth and smile is the main goal of general dentistry. We prefer to provide more minor, preventive care than to see patients suffer with more intensive treatments from a problem that was not managed in time. We want to ensure that your oral health is in its optimal state and positively contributing to the health of your entire body. We are here to brighten your smile and pave the way for a brighter life.
A beautiful smile is one of the most sought after cosmetic features in the world. People from all backgrounds and professions want a bright, straight smile, and we are here to help turn that desire into reality. Whether through minor adjustments or major treatment plans, our cosmetic dentistry practice aims to improve your smile and help you build confidence in the way your teeth look.
Our dentists and entire staff understand the importance of good oral health for young children. They have specialized training in primary teeth. They are here to help protect and restore children’s teeth so that they can speak and eat easily and have a wonderful smile. They understand the growth and development of children’s teeth so they can start children off with good oral health.
We also understand how important taking care of children’s teeth is. We will work with parents to ensure their children are taking good care of their teeth at home. We will also monitor their mouths for any problems so we can catch them early. If needed, we will work with your children’s regular doctor to treat any problems we find.
It can be beneficial to use a guard, or covering, to protect your teeth from grinding while sleeping. Similar to how a mouthguard protects teeth during sports, this layer prevents damage to the teeth that can occur naturally.
There are a wide variety of different types of mouthguards, ranging from pre-formed pieces to ones that are custom fitted to your teeth and jaws. Some of these can even be formed at home through a boil-and-bite process.
Sports Mouth Guards
As dentists, we are determined to make sure your mouth and teeth are well protected during sports activities, no matter what your passion is. To do this, we offer many different types of mouth guards, depending on the types of activities in which you are involved. There are some mouth guards for low-impact sports and others for high-impact sports.
Mouth guards not only protect your mouth and teeth, but also have other purposes. Mouth guards will help decrease the impact if you get hit in the jaw. They have also been shown to increase an athlete’s performance.
Many people clench their teeth while playing, which can give them temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ). Clenching your jaw the whole time can be quite exhausting. Mouth guards help to relax your jaw, allowing you to completely focus on the game!
A smile makeover uses cosmetic dental procedures to make you proud of your smile. We perform teeth whitening, along with other cosmetic procedures like veneers and tooth implants.
Each smile makeover is different. We start by doing a thorough examination and decide what each patient wants and needs. We look at the color of your teeth and how they are all lined up. We check to see if there are any missing teeth or if any are cracked, chipped, or broken.
Our goal is to give you a healthy and happy smile. We want you to have a bright smile, along with teeth that line up correctly and are aesthetically pleasing. We work with our patients to ensure their happiness. We will do whatever we can so that, when you leave our office, you will be completely happy with your smile.
X-Rays are used to examine the inside of your teeth. We are hoping to be able to catch any problems that we can’t see with the naked eye! Using radiology, we are able to see which teeth are developing cavities. We may also see some teeth or gum areas that may require some extra work.
Dental Emergency Treatment
Accidents and dental emergencies can happen at any time, and we are here and always ready to help. You can save valuable time and unnecessary stress by communicating any risks, hobbies, or sports you may be engaging in with your dentist at Summit Dental so we can best equip you with the gear and knowledge you need to stay safe. Knowing exactly what to do in an accident or sports injury can be the difference between losing and saving a tooth.
Remember to save our number in your phone and have it readily available in case of an emergency. If one should happen, we are just a phone call away.
Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling and root planing involves a more in-depth, thorough cleaning treatment recommended for patients who may be suffering from periodontal disease. Also known as gum disease, this type of gum infection is caused by bacteria and plaque forming on your teeth over time and causing inflammation. While serious, periodontal disease is treatable, it can lead to bone or tooth loss if not treated quickly.
Dental crowns are permanent prosthetics that cover a damaged tooth. A dentist might use them in place of a large filling or when a tooth is weak or fractured.
We might recommend crowns if your teeth are weak, damaged or cracked to the point that they cannot be fixed with alternative treatments. While you might have pain and difficulty eating with a current tooth problem, a crown provides a strong new tooth that will diminish your discomfort.
During your appointment, we will determine the crown options that’s best for you.
Dental Implant Restorations
If you are missing a tooth and not a candidate for alternate replacement options such as bridges, then dental implants are the solution for you. As the name suggests, dental implant restorations are used to replace missing or infected teeth with fully-bone supported implants to restore missing function and improve your smile.
To begin treatment, we will determine if dental implant restoration is the best option for you. Factors such as oral hygiene, the location of the missing tooth gap, bone strength, and long-term viability for implants will all determine your treatment plan.
